STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Tribal Administrator and assume the role of facilitating the planning process for Purpose Area (PA) #2 Comprehensive Tribal Justice Systems Strategic Planning. This involves collaborating with the identified Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) provider for PA 2, ensuring seamless coordination of daily activities, and overseeing the overall operations of the federal grant award.

DUTIES:
Recruit and Facilitate Regular Collaborative Meetings:

• Recruit, lead, and facilitate regular meetings with the Planning Team and Justice System Programs to foster collaboration and ensure effective communication.

Data Gathering and Analysis:

• Solicit and collect data and input from various stakeholders to inform strategic planning processes and decision-making.

Comprehensive Strategic Planning:

• Engage in comprehensive justice system strategic planning to enhance tribal justice and safety, encompassing improvements in victim services, community wellness, crime prevention, and addressing violent crime.

• Develop a comprehensive strategic plan that encompasses law enforcement, courts, traditional practices, and community-based alternatives, addressing issues such as serious and violent crime, substance misuse, tribal jail programming, victims' rights, juvenile justice, and community reentry.

• Execute pertinent activities, potentially incorporating a Tribal Action Plan aligned with the Tribal Law and Order Act.

Capacity Building:

• Enhance team capacity for data analysis, supporting the successful implementation of the strategic plan, and assessing outcomes.

Collaboration with TTA Provider:

• Collaborate closely with the no-cost TTA provider supplied by the DOJ.

• Work in tandem with the provider to receive on-site and virtual-based support, facilitating the strategic planning process, forming a strategic planning team, conducting needs assessments, identifying community strengths and challenges, and developing strategies to strengthen the justice system and promote community wellness and safety.

• Collaborate with the TTA Provider to actively contribute to the finalization of the written strategic plan for submission to the DOJ.

Professional Development:

• Attend required trainings to stay updated on relevant skills and knowledge.

Grant Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with grant guidelines, adhering to all stipulations outlined in the grant award.

Reporting Responsibilities:

• Submit accurate quarterly and annual reports to DOJ, providing comprehensive updates on project progress.

Budget Oversight:

• Collaborate with the accountant to monitor the program budget, ensuring financial responsibilities are met.

Adaptability and Additional Responsibilities:

• Undertake any other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting the project's success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Position requires an Associate’s Degree or a combination of education and experience in a field related to public safety or justice

• Must have ability to work with and facilitate meetings with various levels of management, community members, outside entities, etc., maintaining a level of respect and confidence.

• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including how to develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations.

• Ability to work flexible hours, willing to work other than normal working hours including evenings or weekends if needed.

• Must have knowledge of research and data.

• Previous experience with grants preferred

• Possess excellent communication skills, written and oral, other agencies and the public.

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality on all client matters and other matters protected by the Privacy Act as well as other confidential regulations.

• Knowledge of tribe’s cultures and values
