I am a former mayor of Galena for 24 years and helped moved the City of Galena from what it was to what it is today. Also, I've served on the Louden Tribal Council and helped them moved in the direction they want and we are progressing forward nicely.

I am formerly of Ruby and have lived in Galena since 1972. I own and operate Sweetsir's Store and Construction Company with my wife, Agnes Sweetsir. Personally, I enjoy helping my people of Galena and enjoy that I can help them envision us moving forward together.

    Gordon Reisland

    COUNCIL MEMBER

My name is Gordon Richard Olin Reisland and I’m the son of Scott Reisland of Tanana/Fairbanks and Cindy Olin of Galena. I was raised in Galena and graduated from Sidney Huntington School in 2009. After high school, I attended the University of Alaska Anchorage before moving to the Denali area, where I spent over a decade helping operate my family’s seasonal business just outside Denali National Park. That experience allowed me to develop a strong foundation in business operations and leadership.

In October 2023, I made the decision to return home to Galena, where I now serve as the Assistant Maintenance Director for the Galena City School District. I’m excited for the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I’ve gained over the years to serve my community. More importantly, I look forward to learning from our current council members and leaders as I continue to grow in service to Galena.
